What is PRP Therapy?

Beverly Hills, CA board-certified internist Dr. Dale Prokupek performs platelet-rich plasma therapy, also called PRP, at Aesthetic Body Solutions to help replenish your facial appearance. PRP therapy is one of the hottest cosmetic procedures in the industry because of its natural method and thrilling results. With a vial of your own blood, Dr. Prokupek can separate the healthy growth factors and plasma for facial rejuvenation. PRP therapy can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, firm the skin, and give your skin a radiant glow. If you are interested in PRP therapy, contact Aesthetic Body Solutions in Beverly Hills, CA to schedule a consultation. Dr. Prokupek is excited to discuss the benefits of PRP and what it can do for your skin.

Who Needs PRP?

If you would like to enhance your skin tone and texture, then you are typically a great candidate for PRP therapy. In your consultation, Dr. Prokupek will ask if you have any health history of blood disorders, any medical skin conditions, or anemia to determine whether it is safe for you to have PRP therapy.

PRP Technique

Once you are comfortably seated in one of our private treatment rooms, a small amount of blood will be drawn from your arm and put into a centrifuge machine. After approximately 15 minutes on the centrifuge machine, the different components of the blood will be separated and ready to be injected or applied topically. We will load your condensed plasma into a syringe and inject it into the requested treatment areas. The time it takes to administer PRP can vary from patient to patient.

What to Expect after prp

Platelet-rich plasma naturally promotes the production of collagen and elastin to reveal tighter and younger-looking skin. Because it uses your own blood, there is no risk of allergic or adverse reactions. You can expect your face to be somewhat red. A cold pack can be applied to the injection site to minimize discomfort or minor swelling. We recommend you undergo PRP treatments every 4 – 6 weeks.

PRP FAQs

How much does PRP therapy cost?
The cost of PRP therapy will be dependent on how many areas are being treated, plus if you are having PRP treatments with another procedure. We will talk about the cost estimate in your consultation at Aesthetic Body Solutions.

What are the risks and complications of PRP therapy?
Potential side effects from PRP, when done alone, are minor and include only temporary swelling and redness. When microneedling is performed with PRP therapy, potential risks may include infection, mild scarring, pigment changes, and delayed healing.

Will PRP help replenish volume?
PRP therapy cannot increase volume. PRP treatments offer great results because it rejuvenates the appearance of the complexion and boosts the production of elastin and collagen. If you want to contour certain areas of your face that have lost volume, you may be a better candidate for dermal fillers.

Is PRP therapy painful?
Injections of PRP serum feel similar to a dermal filler or BOTOX injection with the extra step of drawing blood to acquire the plasma. Generally, most patients will feel a little pressure or pinch at the time of injection.
